Common Mistakes When Taking Foreign Language Education

When you want to learn a foreign language, say German for example, it would be more effective to apply a contrastive approach. You may or may have encountered the following mistakes but didn’t realize that they were mistakes until now.

1.    Do not translate English directly to German as the sentence constructions are very different.
2.    When a student is taught to speak in a subjunctive way, they hardly see the mistakes in German.  The way to help them learn German or any other language is to create a guide with mistakes.  That way, they will be able to identify the mistakes and correct it on their own.
3.    Students must be taught to use strong verbs in German without subjunctives.
4.    By using contrastive linguistic methods, the students will be able to absorb the German language.
5.    The students may also apply some of the modern principles combined with the backings in a method that is contrastive linguistic.

Detecting mistakes early on will be able to correct their wrong habits of speaking the foreign language.  When a student is taught to spot the mistakes, especially in writing, they become wiser and will have an in depth grasp about the language.

If ever you are buying books that will help you learn a different language, pick the one that can demonstrate the common errors when translating.
